Silke Otto-Knapp: Bühnenbilder assembles texts by Sabeth Buchmann, Saim Demircan, Thomas Percival, Milan Ther, and Jan Verwoert that both commemorate Silke Otto-Knapp (1970–2022) and reflect on the representation and embodiment of performing arts in her work. This volume emerged from the symposium of the same name, organised by Sabeth Buchmann and Milan Ther in April 2024, held in conjunction with the exhibition Bühnenbilder at the Kunstverein. The texts, published here for the first time, negotiate the relationship between choreography, stage, and pictorial space in Otto-Knapp's painting practice, and open up both art historical and personal perspectives on Otto-Knapp’s oeuvre.
